How to get the DB2 server instance owner

31 January,2015 by Tom Collins

Getting the DB2 server instance owner is a common requirement for auditing and inventory management. As a DBA, application owners request my team start managing a DB2 server. The first step is to document the DB2 server instance details, such as instance owner, port, data and log file paths, backup schedules, monitoring and a whole host of other details.

To get the DB2 server instance owner is different for Windows and Linux systems.

On Linux the instance owner is the user ID supplied when the db2icrt command was executed.Read more on DB2 database objects.

On Windows systems the DB2 instance owner is the DB2 instance service Run As user ID
